


While that usually would intimidate me a bit - I have nothing against insanely long books story-wise ( The Stand is one of my favorites of all time), I just shy away from the time investment - I can honestly say that I never once found myself hoping things would speed up or that I wished I was done with it already. It’s long as hell, clocking in at nearly 800 pages, so you should go into it expecting a lengthy journey ahead of you. Moral of the story? I really, really enjoyed this dark fantasy book.

Do you ever read a book that’s so massive, so sprawling and epic, that when you try to figure out what to say about it, your brain just kind of goes blank? That’s basically me with Jay Kristoff’s doorstopper of a novel, Empire of the Vampire.
